Hello Oluwaseun 👋🏽, can you tell us a little bit about you and Adunola? What do you both do for a living?
I’m Oluwaseun Bamidele and I’m a digital marketing expert, I work for an I.T company in Lagos – Ha-Shem Limited as the team lead for marketing, I also have a personal marketing agency – Go Tech Consults. Adunola is a product manager with a bank in Lagos.

Tell us how you both met and how long have you been together. Give us the story. 😁
Lol 😂 We actually met in secondary school…I think SS 3 to be precise. You know the days of 2go and Facebook being the trending platforms at that time. We met through one of her friends on those 12 am- 5 am midnight calls (MTN xtracool). We’ve been friends for over 12 years and have been together for 11 months. Anyways, it’s been a cozy ride and we’re loving it.

Tell us some of the biggest financial goals you both have set for yourselves. 🚀
Huh! Setting goals started the first day we got together. We had to get into some serious conversation about how to minimize spending because I’m actually big on that. I’m a lover of gadgets and like going out a lot – basically for work-life balance.
So we discussed and agreed to hit this target savings before the end of 2022. I have been a fan of Cowrywise for a couple of years now and I had to bring her into the Cowrywise family.

Yeah. So I opened an account for her on her phone, set it up, and activated the automated debit on her active bank account. We’ve both been strict with this and it has really helped us. Today, we can boast of good seven figures and I would say she’s not the kind of lady that loses focus. When she’s onto something with you, she’s 100% in and that’s why I call her the perfect duo partner. 😊

Apart from being a Cowrywise lover, what about Money Duo made it the perfect fit for your money goals?
Partnership and transparency. We saw the need to plan ahead financially and this plan needed a platform that also has a good interest rate. Initially, we went through the different plans on Cowrywise and Money Duo happened to be the best plan for our goal. Last year, we were just using the regular savings circle but after the maturity period for that plan, we swapped to the Duo plan and I must say it’s been our best decision so far

A great deal. The frequent notifications and automated debits have been helpful even when we forget that we needed to save.
Can you share any specific financial goals that you were able to achieve with the help of Cowrywise Money Duo?
Huh! Well, I would say wedding plans and other plans. Although she didn’t know that was the plan when I first introduced her to it, today, she would smile about it and say, ‘Ehn ehn, so this was why you wanted a Duo savings.’ 😀 It’s been fun actually and has kept us both on our toes. Today, we are planning a wedding through the financial discipline that the Money Duo plan provided.

It was seamless actually. The app is user-friendly and easy to navigate. And there’s no page you’re on that you wouldn’t be able to figure out the workflow of that page. I’ve been using the app for years now and I must say that Cowrywise is 1000 times better than it used to be 3 years ago.

Huh… It was mostly when we had other financial burdens come up during the month after we must have saved in the plan. Sometimes we get tempted to withdraw. 😂 I remember her saying it a couple of times that “shey we cannot go and withdraw small out of it ni” but I insisted somehow and we scaled through the hurdles in that month. Today, we can happily say, yes, we’ve stepped up with financial discipline and spending.
Solid one! People often find it difficult to discuss money with their partners. How do you handle that? 🤩
Cowrywise Duo has really helped because it helped close that financial communication gap and establish better financial transparency. Here, everyone is involved. Our joint voice matters, so once there is any decision concerning money, we talk about it and share our individual views.
What other features would you love to see on Money Duo?
The ability to share part of your funds with the other person and a feature that lets you split our funds into different micro savings like funds for the kids, miscellaneous, and so on.

What’s your go-to money tip for couples out there?
Money matters can sometimes be a source of stress in relationships, but it doesn’t have to be that way. Couples should establish open and honest communication from the get-go. Remember, money is just a tool, and it should never define the strength of your relationship. Approach financial matters with love, respect, and a willingness to compromise. By prioritizing open communication, you’ll foster trust, and understanding, and ultimately build a solid foundation for a financially harmonious life together.
